Rick

Hi, I'm Rick

One day my mother gave me an SLR film camera as a gift. I didn’t know it then, but what would start out as a hobby would eventually become a full-time passion. Originally from the beautiful Berkshires in Massachusetts and realizing that I wanted to set down roots in Connecticut, I decided to go back to school to become a licensed massage therapist.  By 2001, after having my massage therapy business for several years, I decided to make photography my full time career and left massage therapy behind.

I would describe my style as a combination of tradional, documentary and romantic spontaneous.

As a wedding photographer, I love being able to capture all the beautiful and unique moments of each wedding day. I am experienced enough to assist in guiding you and your wedding party through standard group posing and formal shots. I also fulfill any special photo requests that might pop up throughout the day. I prefer to capture and interpret the more candid moments of the day with a creative eye, rather than focus on posed portraits. I like to be able to move through the day without distracting from the events unfolding around me.

Taking photos feeds my spontaneous and creative side while owning and using the latest digital technology satisfies my techy, nerd side (who also just happens to love sci-fi gadgets and vintage robots!). I pride myself on being a trusted, skilled professional that gets the job done, and at the same time being down to earth enough to crack goofy jokes to keep everyone relaxed. In my free time, I enjoy trying new and unique restaurants, binging on Netflix (when I have the time) and listening to all kinds of music, especially upbeat, danceable music!

I have more than 15 years of professional photography experience and am constantly trying to improve and learn new techniques.

I can’t find the words to tell anyone reading this how amazing Heather is. Yes, she was my photographer, but she was so much more. She was a buffer to others when I needed a breather, she was a dress fixer and a hair monitor. She just clicked with me and my husband and was somehow there for us in ways that go above and beyond being a photographer. She pushed us to get the perfect shot knowing from our engagement shoot that we weren’t the best subjects and didn’t sit still or pose probably the best. She’s sent us sneak peaks of some of the pictures and they are everything I could have hoped for. They are timeless. Yes, she took amazing pictures, but she was also a friend for us that day and I was truly sad when she had to leave at the end of the night.

Heather is absolutely amazing! She wasn’t just a fantastic photographer but became a friend as well. Throughout everything she was incredibly professional, attentive, and made us feel very comfortable. Heather listened to exactly what we wanted and we are incredibly happy with ALL of our beautiful photos. It was a pleasure to have her photograph our wedding. We had so much fun working with her and I can’t wait to find another reason to work with her again in the future. I really recommend doing an engagement session with her. This gave us an opportunity to get to know her/her to get to know us, get comfortable being photographed/posing… and it was fun! We LOVE Powerstation!

On the day of the wedding, Heather was truly amazing. She arrived early and ready to go. She was efficient and professional throughout the entire day. We had asked her for some family pictures involving a large number of individuals… Heather did a wonderful job of setting up the photos and getting all of them done. Heather also found a gorgeous location for our wedding pictures. It was beautiful location, and really fit who we were as a couple. Following the wedding, Heather got some teaser pictures on Facebook within days of our ceremony. Being able to see some of the pictures so quickly was really nice. I think we were most impressed with Heather, however, after she played seamstress at our ceremony. One of the bridesmaids split her dress during the reception. Heather stepped right in and stitched the dress back together. We were so grateful for the way she saved the day with that dress. We would strongly recommend Heather and Powerstation.
