Powerstation Events was founded in February 1983 by two friends who shared the same ideas... and today is Connecticut’s leading professional event production and event services company.

Al Vagnini and Jon March grew up in musical families and were fortunate to have supportive teachers in school. Both had extremely diverse knowledge of music, a love of audio and video systems, and a passion for perfection.

Al’s father, Mario Vagnini, was a popular musician and vocalist in the Connecticut social & swing band circuit. Jon’s mother was active in many theater programs and his neighbor, Tommy Mars (famous for playing with Frank Zappa), helped him start his first band in 1969.

Shortly after founding Powerstation Events, they began attracting talented DJs and at one point had 14 nightclubs, some of the clubs having Powerstation DJs four nights per week. Much of this success was directly related to their extensive knowledge of sound, lighting and video equipment. More than DJs, they were sought out for their technical expertise, which gave them an advantage in the industry.

When the VCR boom of the 1980’s hit, the team moved their operation into a retail music store of their own design called Music Plus, which rapidly became the place to go for the best advice for music and video systems in the area. The store was a great success and its sale provided the springboard for the move to their headquarters of 15 years in Middlebury. Responding to a continued growth in business and a need for additional space, Powerstation moved their headquarters in December 2002 to Cheshire CT.

Today, Powerstation Events is Connecticut’s leading professional event production and event services company. Upwards of 30,000 events and productions have been served by Powerstation Events. The company has grown to become the most respected name in event entertainment and production in the region.
